Important Message for Magellan Users.

As of July 17th, 2010 there has been an update to the SmokeFreelyVa POI (Points of Interest) files. This update has increased the number of restaurants by 27.There are also corrections to old listings.
If you use the Smokefreelyva POI for your GPS, then you will want this latest update. If you not using it, your missing out.This file is free and I for one get much use out of it. Just punch up the Smokefreely POI on your Magellan brand GPS and be lead to the nearest smoking restaurants of your choice.
Request your free copy of the POI file today. All you need is your GPS, a USB cable and your PC. With a couple of simple key strokes you’ll have one smoke seeking machine. Email request to Smokefreelyva.com and say “I want the Magellan POI file”. Follow the instructions that came with you unit to install. Enjoy!

So many Restaurants are now discovering the advantage of offering choice to their customers we find that we need to update often.
This is the kind of problem were happy to deal with. 37 were added the last time and 27 this time.
There are 17,000 restaurants in Virginia with only a few hundred offering smoking. This is not great when you take into account that 23% of dinners smoke, but at least it's moving in the right direction.
It's your continued support that is making this happen. Remember, keep spending your money where your welcomed. As this list grows, there are fewer and fewer reasons to eat at non smoking restaurants. You are making a difference

UPDATE Hey Cigar Smokers! UPDATE

Mike Banks has discovered that all but two or three cigar shops in Virginia are not smoke friendly. This of course is great news. It also means that our plan to produce a smoke friendly cigar shop list is unnecessary. Accordingly, plans for this project are now canceled. To bad the restaurant list can’t yet be made obsolete so easily.

Thank you Mike (Uncle Mikey) for you diligent research regarding a smoke friendly tobacco shop list.

I would like to let everyone know that Smoke Freely will be trying to enforce a standard different from that of the State as far as what constitutes a smoking restaurant. We are not including ones that only have outside dinning (anyone can send you outside). We would not want to waste your time sending you somewhere like that in the middle of winter. Basically, I'm looking for restaurants that provide an environment for smokers that is reasonably comparable to that given non smokers. If you see patio only restaurants on my list, please report it to me. I love outside dining, but I want everything listed here to be good for year round use. I'm also still looking for some volunteers. I would like some help with creation of POI for GPS. I would also like some help with verifying status of some of the restaurants. If you have free long distance (as many of us do with our cells) then this is the job for you.

The main thing is, check back often, as I said, things are changing big time. 12/3/09
